Is there a way to contact Gmail/Google? I keep getting someone else's mail of a similar name

Thinking about this since yesterday...
I think ONE potential issue is that SOME mail servers drop or ignore that dot, meaning that mail addressed to John.Doe@gmail.com will be sent to JohnDoe@gmail.com by SOME mail servers.
I'm having to think back quite a long way to when something similar appeared to be happening to me.
