Anyone have a Yaris or SmartCar?

My son had a Yaris (hatchback version) for awhile. He and a friend drove from Orlando to NYC and back in it last winter and averaged 43 mpg. He loved it, and even took it to an autocross event and won the race for his class! First Yaris to claim that title.

We also had 5 people in it: 4 adults (2 were ~250lbs, and 1 of these is 6ft. tall) and one 12 year old boy, and were surprised at how much room there was in the little thing. If you get the extra airbag/safety equipment for the Yaris, it did test well in the safety tests, but tested near the bottom without the extra airbags.

My Scion xA is very similar to the Yaris, I believe same motor and transmission. It's been
great so far it has 23K on already and gets 38-41mpg. I think the Yaris 3 door is neat. I
went for the Scion over the Yaris 4 door because I liked the interior better and it had more
std. features for less money. Both Scion and the Yaris were 100% Japanese which was a
plus for me, no Mexican engine, wiring harness, exhaust system or Chinese engine like
some of the American manufacturers are using.
