Would you buy a computer from someone who doesn't trust himself to turn it on?

Check out the bottom of the auction "Up for bid today is a pristine iMac G5 All in one computer. It does not turn on, but, not being tech-savvy, I wouldn't take my word on it, maybe a cable needs to be plugged back in, or something simple. This auction is just for the computer itself, built in to the screen. The picture is stock, the item is just the computer itself.

There is no power cord, as I need all the peripherals to purchase another one similar to it, and don't want to have to shell out for new ones. This is perfect for any tinker or DIYer who needs to fix their current G5 without having to pay the exorbitant costs Apple charges for parts, especially for old computers.

So here it is, up for grabs, make it yours today!"

If I could get it for the opening bid of $100 I'd take it.

My favorites are those ebay auctions for "Macbook Pro" with pictures, specs, yadda yadda...

And the small print says "The winning bidder will receive a booklet telling them how to purchase this computer for a very low cost".

There was a famous story in Apple Support back in the 90's about a call from an older schoolteacher who couldn't figure out how to turn off a Mac LCII she'd just bought. The rep went around and around with her for a good half hour, saying, "Point at the word Special at the top of the screen, and push the button."

"Okay, I'm pointing, but nothing happens."

Finally, the customer asked, "When you say push the button, you mean the big button, right?"

The nonplussed support rep said, "Uh, ma'am, there's only one button on your mouse."

Her reply: "What's a mouse?"

She hadn't even taken the mouse out of the box; turned out she was pointing at the screen with her finger and pushing the spacebar.

I agree. You never saw garbage like that in newspaper classified ads.
