While we're on this subject, anyone want to look up for me the various part numbers and where I might be able to order the laptop optical to HD bay replacements - particularly for older models - I'm pretty sure they had an IDE/PATA to SATA one (if not two because there are different connectors that can be used) - and I'm hoping to find one that can be used in an older Mac mini to support a second HD. I think the Lenovo parts are about the cheapest there are for this purpose; although I remember finding a 3rd party supplier about a year ago that had them for $40 but I lost the page and haven't been able to successfully search my way back.

Thanks!

gabester are you looking to get one of those SATA to PATA 2.5" drive bays, and then pull the electronics out of it?

If so you need one of these:

SATA 2.5 to PATA, fits in Thinkpad optical bay. It's called a Ultrabay adapter. You just need to find a Thinkpad with the appropriate PATA interface and search from there. A little more info here

FWIW I've bought a couple of the ebay ones, and they work fine.
