Bradley Cooper gets an Oscar nod??

Has anyone seen the Silver Lining Playbook? Did he really hit a home run? I've always seen him as a competent but not stellar actor so this nomination surprised me.

Oscars have nothing to do with acting ability anymore. It's the the most PC movie.

Don't know about that. Could be the opposite.

"Zero Dark Thirty," incredibly NON-pc movie. I can't believe that got a best picture award. In fact, this year's list is kinda...????

Well that's a pretty dumb statement. Let us see: who one the Best Supporting Actor award in 2009? Christoph Waltz for the least PC character you can possibly imagine.

Home run.

It should have sucked. Sappy 80's-style redemption script and an ensemble that by all rights should have done nothing but clash.

But it all came together, through luck or sheer willpower.

One of the best movies of the year.
