abandoned apple products

I had the Performa 640 with the PC Card built-in.

It was essentially a completely separate computer, so I'd switch over to the PC Card to play DOOM while downloading via the 2400 baud modem on the Mac side.

Great for any DOS game you wanted to play!

Always wanted one of these... by the time they were cheaper than dirt, I no longer cared... Note the price here ($729)

here's a link to an apple PDF about the card: http://www.apple.com/be/acrobat/dospciz.pdf

Don't forget the Apple-branded cutting/stabbing instrument which had a very limited run.
Bobby Darin was one of the celebrity spokespersons for it.

Yeah, that's the original "Apple TV", the add on cards came later.

I liked the article. If nothing else, the FaceTime open standard bait and switch should get more press.

I could never afford one, either. Kept buying versions of Virtual PC, first from Connectix, then Microsoft. It was always a dog. The switch to Intel and Parallels/Fusion was a great boon to those of us who needed to run Windoze on our Macs.

I'd like to see a list of projects that Steve abandoned because something ticked him off.

I've heard a couple/three podcasts where former employees stated that they personally knew of projects that were cancelled in a fit of pique because something and or someone ticked him off. A couple were alleged to have been cancelled because word was leaked.

Even a list of projects cancelled for purely practical business reasons would be interesting.

I think you're talking about that infamous "Asteroid" amongst other things...
