Deer scat pellets clump or spread based on the diet. I'm guessing the drier the food, the more "pelletized" the product. The more you know!

I'd look into American Bittern for that brown heron. I'm not certain, just suggesting it as a possibility.

Yeah, color temperature changes dramatically at this time of the day. Someone shooting slide film would use warming and cooling filters to compensate for this. You could manually set your white balance to achieve whatever you want.

I love this sunset photo. Because the land is in the middle of the picture, you end up with an interesting symmetry with two "horizons".
