I decided to put a bigger HD in my 2012 MBP. Cloned the old drive onto the new drive using CCC, installed the new drive and booted. All looked fine- but several programs lost links to their registration docs so I had to reenter serial numbers.
Then I went to Mail- very little of my previous email showed up. Any idea what the problem might be? I've used CCC before with no glitches (at least non that I was aware of). the other times the new drive booted and ran just like the old one.
Any thoughts on what might have happened?
Thanks.

Yeah, that is definitely not a typical outcome for a drive clone. From what you described, I need a little more info to figure out why that happened. We'd be happy to take a look at your logs to see what's going on. The easiest way to do this is from within CCC:
1. Choose "Report a problem" from the Help menu
2. Enter your name, email, subject and copy in what you wrote above
3. Make sure the box next to "Attach CCC diagnostic logs to this request" is checked
3. Click on the "Submit Request..." button
Sorry it didn't work perfectly!

Nice. Thanks. I'll give it a shot when I get home this evening. Nice that developers keep an eye on things (I assume by your comment that you are affiliated with CCC).

Was all your mail on your drive or in a cloud-based storage?

Nothing cloud based. All on my hard drive.

Usually when I do a CCC clone like that, I try booting from the clone immediately after it's finished being created to check for consistency; while it's still attached to the dock or adapter used in making the clone. After the consistency is confirmed, then I'll swap drives... though the newer MBP's are easier to get in and out of than the old school models. Still easier to check before the swap, just in case something didn't clone properly. Good luck.
