Sit down, boys. I'm getting Windows 10...

Yes, that'd be me. Old GuyGene, first known as LaserKun here, the one who has only bought Macs. Now, I AM NOT getting a Windows computer mind you, just Windows 10 OS. I own '98 and I think XP (canno' find CD), but I just got an email from an entity I work with for one of my non profit NGOs that will let me get Windows 10 for $15.00. What's to lose? :RollingEyesSmiley5:

So, a question or two:

1. Can I install it on a USB drive and use it as a startup disk under BootCamp on my Retina MacBook Pro? Or do I have to partition drive to run it?

2. That's all.

I'm going to download it now... The reason I'm getting it is price, of course, plus, some of my work involves helping people in our organization with computer issues, Mac and Windows. So having it will help me in that work.

Ok boys, here I go, diving in headfirst!

I tried to get it when it was free, and just couldn't get the installer to complete the upgrade.

Need more info. The hardware and the OS needs to be new enough to run Win10 in Boot Camp. What do you want to do with Win10?

Get a copy of Parallels or Fusion, and you can run Windoze on your Mac.

I'd like a 17" laptop and, while I know they don't sell, I'd have probably have bought a 17" if Apple still made them.
Just got an email from Costco offering an HP Envy with an i7, 16GB RAM, 2TB HD, SuperMulti DVD Burner, Wireless-AC + Bluetooth, Bang & Olufsen Audio (?), all for $800. If I were going buy a 17" laptop I'd be seriously looking at something like this... When was the last 17" Apple made?

Apple killed the 17" MBP in late June, 2012 (it's referred to as the "Late 2011" model). I ordered mine the next day and, it was delivered on July 1st, 2012. I immediately upgraded to 16 GB of RAM. A year or so later, I installed a 1TB SSD. I'll keep it running as long as I can and then, if Apple still is not making big screen laptops, I'll buy a high end, big screen Windows laptop and switch it to Linux.

Turn off blue tooth immediately, and keep all cell phones FAR away until you get Win10 locked down. It sucked every bit of data off my partner's Windows phone, and populated her new work laptop with all her personal data. Thanks M$!

Never gave her the option, or asked if it was OK. Just did it.
