Contemplating hardware upgrades. Thoughts?
#21
For an upgraded Mac Pro, would a single 6-core CPU, say a 3.33GHz, be fast enough?

If so, that would save you some money, definitely on the CPU upgrade and possibly also on the Mac Pro itself since you could get a single CPU 2009 / 4,1 2.66GHz model. It would also simplify the upgrade process because you could get something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-Mac-Pro-Cp...OSw4UtWR6K

Do note, the stock 2009 / 4,1 Mac Pros come with an nVidia GT120 video card that is pretty low end (an Apple-branded version of an old 9500GT).

Thanks all. At this point I am not sure if I have the time it will take to find a mac pro, find the best parts and do the install work Sad

NO sierria on that model. Heck, not even an Early 2009 MP supports it.
