True, but I really, really, really hope that the dems are not depending on octogenarians for a power base in 2020. Hopefully by then there will be a nextgen ready to step up.

I think that it's VERY important that she be in control for THIS congress. In 2020, it might be time to hand it over to a younger generation. But right now, we need all of the power that we can get out of that office and that's nancy.
Even if she stands down, you don't "hand" anything to anybody ever. Make them earn it.
This!!
Why?
Vision, I don't hate or love Pelosi, but I think this was a good test of her leadership, and she passed (and to be honest, with flying colors)
I do agree she can do good work, and I hope she does, but she really is too much the "modern" business over worker DemocRat! The country doesn't need Repulican Lite. The more they cave/compromise with the Right, the further Right/Backwards the Republicans take the country!
Whether that is a function of age, I'm not sure. But as I go through my forties, I can still remember the twenty year old who had high hopes. What does an 78 year old know or even care for the future, when the good ole days were half a century ago. I don't know. Generally, voters are attracted to energy backed with Experience (Obama/Biden). Enough of the voters
in the right places preferred an Energetic fool to a competent Manager in 2016.
I would class Pelosi as a competent Manager, but she's 78. I have serious concerns about 72 y.o. Trump's mental stamina, is it wrong to do the same for Pelosi?
I get how you feel, but that's just you feeling despair over lost feelings of idealism. She's far more than a competent manager. She, herself is an idealist. A person like her, however, can't afford to support dead end legislative forays in what amounts to posturing or poseur-ing. People are depending on her. Viewing her in her totality, her legislative history, her accomplishments, her true deeds vs perceptions of her deeds is informing.
