M4 Mac mini Storage *Technically* Replaceable
#11
So after watching the video, even if the chips were half the price he paid, I'm good with external storage.

However, if one's mini's internal storage when T/U, maybe someone could replace the chips and upgrade if appropriate.

Still, AppleCare may be the way to go.

I can't remember ever having a chip failure of an Apple product.

A stick or two of third party memory did go bad.

It's still outrageous that Apple charges so much for memory and storage upgrades.

Apple may offer to renew coverage for a 3 year plan when it is reaching its end, but there is no guarantee that they will.

I’ve converted a few devices from the prepaid plans to the annual (or monthly for iOS devices) plans. The only downside of the renewing plans is that they are tied to your iCloud account and can’t be transferred. So if you sell a device with renewing AC+, the buyer can use the balance of time left, but they won’t be able to renew it again under their account.

Whereas all the devices I’ve converted were items I purchased used with prepaid AC+ plans that I renewed when the original plan expired.
