bought a new iMac - hate the new keyboard
#1
I just went back to work after being out on medical leave. My first task was to set up my new 24" alum Intel iMac. Love the machine and the bluetooth keyboard is aesthetically pleasing if I just wanted to display the Mac but I find it really hard to use. Specifically being so small I tend to have my right hand over one position to the right. I've been using it for two days trying to get used to it but since I still have my old Mac I may keep it's keyboard. I also am mourning the loss of a numeric keyboard.

can you use the regular wired keyboard it came with?

Didn't the iMac come with the new wired version? That would have the aesthetics and the numerics, but you might still have the same spacing problem... Maybe not though, a few of the keys are bigger on that version.

I believe it was configurable and I always choose the wireless options which work great for me on all my other Macs.

I've never understood those who complain about having to change batteries frequently. I leave my keyboard and mouse turned on all the time and of course use the computers frequently but it is usually months between battery changing. Also I find you get an awful lot of battery life after the warning that your batteries are low.

This sounds like a CTO with the BT keyboard.

The feel of the two is the same.

Sorry you don't like it, did you try it out before buying?

What was your old mac/KB?

Yup, wireless layout of the BT is just the same as the wired version, just lacking the number pad area. It seems to be modeled after the MacBook KB.

Does seem to copy MacBook Pro keyboards. And they are too small for me. I prefer the larger kekyboard--Apple's original wireless bluetooth. Using it now, though I did buy the newer keyboard for travel.
