Punch Schiller's INTERVIEW...Apple Controls media blurb

The interviewer asked a loaded question. If you've ever met Phil, he's somewhat like a teddy bear. It bet it takes quite a bit to get him frustrated. I don't think he'd say something like "I already answered that question, now you're just trying to get the answer you want to hear" just to stonewall the guy if he was being sincere. The question was indicative of an amateur journalist.
Plus I doubt Phil knows everything. I heard a Google exec tuesday night (even got to talk to him aftewards.) He knew some things very, very well, but when it came to thinks like android he said a little bit that he said was his overall opinion, but other that that he hadn't worked on it at all so there's nothing else he could contribute, no matter how many people asked different questions about it.

BS... it was a promo event and schiller clearly didn't want to deal with any itunes monopoly issues when it's iphone they came to talk about.
If you think schiller is just a sweet teddy bear that climbed the ladder of success in apple by being sweet and cuddly, yer nuts.

http://tinyurl.com/2ttfag "A British journalist attempts to ask Apple executive Phil Schiller a question about the effective iTunes monopoly on downloads for the iPhone. Apple's PR people jump in and try to end the interview, saying how they're "excited" about the iPhone and "want to stay focused." The problem? Their body language betrays them. This is why Apple is really screwed if it ever loses Steve Jobs: He's the only guy at Apple who can actually pull off this act and handle the press convincingly while parroting the party line. Everyone else at Apple who's even allowed to speak to reporters just ends up looking robotically defensive when they try to erect a Jobsian reality-distortion field." Defend Schiller if you must, but look at the panic in his eyes! He's the Senior VP of Worldwide Product Marketing of Apple Inc., and can't save himself when caught off guard? Some good comments follow. |
