I'm torn on which 24" monitor to get. CompUsa has the Acer 24" monitor for $249 (after rebate) on Thursday night. Circuit City has the Samsung for $329 after rebate on Friday morning. I keep going back and forth as to which one I want to get. I've seen both in the stores, however both are hooked up to a multi-plex type thing... in other words, every monitor is showing the exact same thing, which isn't at the native resolution, so it's hard to really compare them. Is the Samsung worth $80 more?

ok, so it looks like the Acer may be better because it's an "S-PVA" monitor, as opposed to the Samsung which is a 6-bit "TN" monitor. Does that sound right?

Ok, I did a little more research. Seems that CompUsa's Acer is the AL2416WBSD model, which is supposedly the S-PVA model. The Acer at Office Depot is the X243WBD model, which is the TN model. And we've already determined that the Samsung at Circuit City is a TN model. So it looks like I'll either try to order the Acer from CompUsa online, or line up Thursday night for their 9pm sale. It's supposed to be in the upper 60's Thursday night here, so I suspect the line will be a lot longer than last year. And last year, the line was very long.

Yup, exactly--avoid TN. That's the same type that's in the new AL 20" iMac that people complain about.

Comp's Acer 24 if on sale through Saturday at that price - not just Thursday night.

yeah, but I went there today and one of the sales people said they'd only have limited quantities. So they may very well run out on thursday night.
