Are auto brokers still around?
#1
I used to read a lot about them in the 80s and 90s but not as much. I guess the idea was to buy a car directly from factory.

Yes. A friend uses them, but he uses them to buy used cars. Works out pretty well. He sets his specs and price, the broker finds the car. He sets his price at what he expect the car to be worth two years from time of purchase. His plan is then to sell them at what he paid for them... but he has yet to actually sell one.

Nice strategy, but I like to drive. High mileage drops the value quickly.

They're definitely still around. I know a lot of people that use them, but like MAVIC, it's mostly used cars, though I know of one specifically in my town that does new and used cars.

My credit union used to have one, and it was a great service.
Wish I could find one locally, probably going to buy some type of vehicle in the next couple of years.

A good friend always uses one when her family make car purchases. Used cars that are no older than 2 years.

Bought my '00 Ranger from one 4 years ago. Great deal, no nonsense, did all the paperwork at his kitchen table, and he gave me a list of local banks that would help finance the beast. One-stop shopping w/o all the other stuff. A laurel and hearty recommendation.
