...to what sounded like a tree or some other gigantic object crashing through the house. And as I ran from our bedroom bleary eyed and freaking out to check on my daughter, the light switch in the master bedroom decided to crap out at that EXACT moment. And of course it's wired to the hall light so that was out too making it nice and dark.
Needless to say I investigated the entire house and found no evidence of...anything. Nothing. Nothing even moved out of place. The only thing worse than hearing something that loud—so loud you could "feel" it—is not finding what made it!
Thankfully, my wife discovered the laundry closet metal shelving holding a large collection of christmas dinnerware collapsed onto the metal dryer. By the time we got back to bed it was almost 4 and I could not sleep. Besides I had to deal with the switch. Went and flipped the breaker back on and no go. So i waiting til 6 and made a run to Home Depot to get some replacement switches and replaced all 3.
Now it's 7:30. The power is back on in the bedroom. The laundry closet is empty. The alarm is back online. And I've been up since 3. Not looking forward to work today.
