Hillary should be the VP
#1
There, I said it~! She may be too old in four years, but it all makes good sense to me, since the Repubs will probably pick a woman or a man of Latino background to be VP and choosing Hillary would help energize a large base for the Dems that is not particularly energized right now, to say nothing of blowing the roof off the fundraising ceiling.

so. discuss.

I think they should swap Joe Biden with Hillary Clinton.

I seriously doubt she'd want to give up her important job as Secretary of State, where she thrives, and become VP which is a far less fulfilling job.

As the recent American Experience program showed, she really did intend to be co-president with Bill. Being Secretary of State is the next best thing.

She'd energize the Republican base, too.

I do think freshening up the ticket with someone new would be worth a look, with an eye to 2016. Biden was a safe choice to provide grounding for a young candidate like Obama, but now it's time to move on.

One downside is it might look like desperation. At least, I sure the other side would say so.

The big thing is, how do you tell Joe Biden?

From Hillary's point of view:

1. Would it look good on her resume or tombstone (if they won?)

2. Would it help or hurt if she wanted to run in 2016?

3. Is she tired of her current job, but like to stay in the game?

I don't think her age would be a huge factor next time if she keeps at her current pace.

Oh I agree... she's still the Bogeywoman for many Republicans who remember the 1990's. Bringing her back home would not be a good political move for the Obama candidacy. Better to keep her where she IS doing well... despite what BS talking points will have you believe, she's not out giving away the store, and she's being properly tough or conciliatory where necessary.

In the end I think Foreign Relations are her strongest skillset.

Heard on the radio (must have been NPR) that Romney won Michigan largely because of strong turnout by women.
I think that Rick Santorum is energizing the women vote (both republican and democratic) in a way that Hillary can't.
I also think she likes her current job....I doubt she is interested in the change.

She's not too old for a run for the presidency in 2016, but there may be other good reasons she may not be interested. (I think she'd be a really good president, though.) There would plusses and minuses to her being on the ticket as VP candidate this year, but on balance I'd say her being on the ticket wouldn't make enough difference for the pluses to outweigh the minuses. I hope she wants to still be Secretary of State because she's doing a really good job there - I think it's been one of those situations where you don't hear much about what she's doing because she so good at what she's doing.

I thought I read somewhere that she was wanting to leave her position after this term.

Is there anything at the UN that would keep her occupied and happy?
