In case the Truthers & Birthers aren't enough to laugh at

Searching for an escape hatch now that the contraception wars are spinning out of their control, Republicans and conservatives are working to turn the Sandra Fluke saga into one big liberal conspiracy.

As Fluke vows that slurs won’t silence women, here’s a handy guide to the theories floating around on the right about the Georgetown law student who was smeared by Rush Limbaugh and has since created headaches for the GOP.

So, what we call these clowns?

"Flukers"?

Read it for the lulz.

Mouth breathing neanderthals seems nice and all-inclusive.

I still do not understand why the Republicans have decided to engage in a full frontal assault upon women's reproductive rights. The laws that are being contemplated/passed in various states are downright draconian. And the fact that this has evolved into the number one topic of the 1012 election season boggles my mind. I can't fathom why the GOP thought this would be a good wedge issue to bang people on the head with. Nor why they should be surprised at the enormous bad will it has generated, let alone try to explain it with crazy fairy tales.

$tevie- I totally agree. It's like there's some evil idiot yammering in their ears telling them how to completely sabotage the 2012 election.

Hey kids ! . Ms. Fluke is a, wait for it....Welfare Queen!.

This meme really is a "shoot yourself in the foot" moment for the GOP.

Excite the base a little? Sure.

Build traction with independents to pivot them away from Obama? Ummm..not so much.

Fluke could be part of some Obama conspiracy only if they knew the Republicans would attack her. If they hadn't, there is no story: her testimony becomes a little-mentioned footnote in a congressional hearing.

So: either the Republicans (or Rush, O'Reilly, et al.) are such knee-jerk agents that all one need do is dangle appropriate bait in front of them; or they themselves are part of the conspiracy.

Rush has kicked the crazy up a notch:

"By the way, the movie Game Change, the HBO movie that premiered on Saturday night (that's designed, once again, to castigate and destroy Sarah Palin all over again)? The same public relations firm representing Sandra Fluke represents Game Change. The same PR firm that handled Sandra Fluke's episode is handling Game Change, and you know who it is? Anita Dunn, formerly of the White House! The Mao Tse-tung admirer, by her own admission. Anita Dunn, Obama's former adviser, is the PR firm for the movie Game Change and for Sandra Fluke. It's all part of a plan. It is not accidental. None of this stuff just happened. "Whoa, looky over there what just happened!" It's all orchestrated."
