May or may not be an ongoing trend, but kind of gives you hope for the country.

'hope for the country' ?

I'll have more hope for the country when shows like "Honey Boo Boo" are replaced with Masterpiece Theater. :oldfogey:

Having one biased opinionater being able to sell more toilet paper and tampons than another is not, IMHO, a measure of civilization.

But then maybe I'm just an over-intellectual elitist.

You would have to have fallen down the rabbit hole to equate O'Reilly with Maddow.

I think I can come up with a better word than elitist. Entertainment comes in many forms and does not always have to be high caliber. Just ask Bugs Bunny.

I've always considered Rachel Maddow to be Jon Stewart without comedy writers. A common-sense, left-leaning political critic and pundit who focuses more on hypocrisy than polemic. O'Reilly, on the other hand, is a clear polemicist, albeit not a terribly rigorous one.

Bugs is the height of culture compared to the hillbilly reality shows on the t00b these days.

I'd like to see Bugs Bunny on Masterpiece Theatre. Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny in "Bwideshead Wevisited".

$tevie... OMG.

How would Elmer pronounce "Weawwy". I'm envisioning Pontius Pilate in "Life of Brian".

I thought certain parties wanted government funding for Public television to end. Isn't that where MPT plays?
