Moving up from a 2008 13" Macbook (original one piece aluminum).
Man, the screen on this new one feels huge! (And very smooth.)

On the fence. Got the possibility to upgrade from a 2011 (17" 8,3) to the current model and am waiting on some advice from a friend (cough, cough) regarding how wishy-washy I should be.

Whenever I'm at the store looking at the Retina displays I don't see any difference. Is it something you switch on?

Sys prefs - Displays, check the box "Best for retina display".
I don't notice a huge difference, just things look a bit smoother. But, when I go back to my old Macbook I can easily see the difference. bazookaman wrote: Sticks and stones will break my bones but names don't change the fact that I'm now cooler than you. :wiggle:

So is "you suck!" the new "Leader!"?

I LOVE my MBP-RD. I am currently running 2 concurrent VMs (Windows 7 and Windows 8, both on Parallels), transferring some files to a HD, running a TM backup, encoding a video, listening to SiruisXM and finishing an email with zero lag or hiccups. It really is solid as a rock.
It was not inexpensive yet it is worth every penny. The screen is the best I have ever seen on a laptop, bar none. |
