Credit card interest question
#1
Dumb question - if I pay off the credit card balance as of the billing date, though have additional charges on the card since that time, will I incur intereset on the difference or would the subsequent charges only incur interest if I'd not paid the outstanding balance as of the next bill?

The second one.

The latter.

You only pay what they request on the bill they send you. Purchases after they generate their bill will appear on your subsequent bill.

For most (all?) credit cards, if you pay of your entire balance every month on time, you will not incur any interest charges.

You may still be paying annual fees which are above and beyond your actual charged purchases.

Depends on the card. Some have a clause in their agreements where you can be charged interest if part of the balance you pay off is carried over from a prior billing period. Needless to say, I avoid getting cards with those issuers.

What JoeH said. If you had been carrying a balance and decided to pay it all off one month, you might still get charged interest for that one extra month. Happened to me once a long time ago. I called and complained, but there wasn't anything I could do about it (other than drop the card, which I did shortly thereafter).
