I've tried the proverbial "Thankless Jobs". Now, I'm sort of thinking of switching into a "Thankful" one; see if that helps my outlook any.
Suggestions?
(Granted, I'm old/er, as in can't teach learn (duh) new tricks... so, I can't spin up "Astronaut" on my LinkdIn page... haha)

"I have progressed through ranks of Space Cadet, Space Captain, Space Colonel, Space General, Space Warrior, and Space Avenger." Great if they want someone to give lessons in winning GORF.

"Thankfulness" depends most heavily on the sense of affirmation and recognition you receive in your work. Petting a puppy, for example, is a VERY thankful job... you are recognized with whines, wagging, snuggling, and many kisses.
Many of us are in 'self thanking' jobs... where the satisfaction of a complex task performed professionally is often the only available reward.
A lot of it also has to do with your mindset. You can find ways to encourage recognition in your work. Or change your workplace's culture.
When I started where I work 20 years ago, recognition took place ONCE during the year.. at annual bonus time. The sarcastic response was some form of "Do you want a medal or a cookie with a ribbon on it ?"
I introduced the concept of a 'project end party' and little recognition awards. People were incredibly amazed, and still treasure the little plaques we had laser engraved. One lady, a 30 year employee, was almost in tears when I handed her her plaque for her participation.
Good luck !

Find a job that matches your own values. What motivates you?
What sort of work would make you look forward to Monday morning?

After I retired early, I started working at local schools and have never felt so fulfilled. I went from substitute to paraprofessional to full-time teacher, but went back to Sub teaching as that was where I had the most fun. Not having to worry about the money, I was able to make the change.
Schools almost always need volunteers and mentors as well.

I would suggest working in the field of animal welfare/animal rights. The human race is responsible for visiting almost unimaginable suffering and harm on the other inhabitants of this planet, and working to right some of those wrongs would certainly be a "thankful" endeavor.
