I KNEW it! Google disses Froogle!

I had a heck of a time finding pricing info last week. They moved Froogle link from its normal spot into a box. You can blame YouTube.

>On Wednesday, Google removed a text link to its comparison-shopping site, Froogle, and replaced it with one pointing to Google Video, where amateur spoofs uploaded by users mingle with episodes of Dave Chappelle's show.

I noticed that last night & don't appreciate it one little bit.
We ought to have the option of arranging those links as we see fit.

Froogle long ago lost its luster.
I use it once in a while, but it no longer provides useful results for me.
The lowest prices all appear dodgy at best, and the rest are all within a couple bucks of each other.

If you really miss it, you can get the Google toolbar for FireFox http://toolbar.google.com and give it its own button.

If you click on the "more" link a javascript popup makes it simple to select froogle. I'd rather have it back where it was though.

In Firefox, you can set up quick-searches that work like typing a question-mark to precede a search query in Internet Explorer. It will send the query to a pre-set search engine.

Just right-click on the search-field at any web site and select "Add a key word for this Search" from the contextual menu. It creates a special kind of bookmark in the Bookmarks Menu/Manager. I save my quick-searches in a particular folder in my Bookmarks Manager so that I can find and can edit them easily.

I've got it set up so that one question mark = Google, two = Google Images and three = Froogle.

So, if I enter this into my address bar... "? Doctor Who Episode Guide Pertwee BBC" then it will search Google.

If I enter this into my address bar... "?? you killed kenny" then it will search Google Images.

...and if I enter this into my address bar... "??? flying monkey with sound" then it will search Froogle.

I have such shortcuts set up for all sorts of sites. Amazon, VersionTracker, IMDB, Wikipedia and many more. It kicks ass.

The link doesn't work for me in Safari/Tiger--the pop-up appears, but the linky no-a-work.

Yeah, I had the same problem with the link in Safari. I think it works in either Firefox or Camino, but not both.

MacMagus: that is cooooool. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah, this has been bugging me for a couple days. Froogle's not great but I still need it.

The popup thing doesn't work for me either, at least not in Safari or Omniweb. Works in Camino and SeaMonkey, though.

Froogle is going away. It's been EOL'd for a couple months now.
