Mac Mini Server: HD or SSD?
#1
I have a Mini (2012) that I plan to set up as a file/iTunes/Time Machine server. All important data will be on external hard drives (USB 3). does it make sense to upgrade the internal HD (500 GB) to a SSD? This will be a headless server, after I set it up, I will probably not use a monitor. Only remote log in, once in a while to check things.

I wonder if SSD will make any difference.

Yes. Most GUI operations are faster when booted from a SSD. You'll appreciate the difference every time you use it or copy/install anything to the boot vol.

I agree. Something just 120 or even 240 GB would be more than enoug for a system.
