F/U: Son's friend txting goodbye messages - he's getting help
#1
F/U to this posting yesterday (Geesh.. we have no end of trauma and drama in our household)
http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1...sg-2067551

His mother txed me this evening to thank us for our prompt action, and to tell me that he was getting help. And was pretty angry about it (probably a 72 hour hold).

My response ?
"Thank you. The most important thing is that he is getting help. He has to be alive to be angry, so that's all good !"

Please ! No more suicides ! Cry
Thoughts like these are wrong:
" I didn't think he meant it."
" She just wants attention."
" He would never do that."
" I'm too busy to deal with this."

It's better to lose a friend to anger than lose a friend to suicide.

The kid was angry? Well, that's a good sign, since emotions like that are generally not thought of as suicidal tendencies.

The emotional states of people who are suicidal are often complex and subject to fluctuation, making it very difficult to judge from the outside what is really going on inside. I would not assume that the anger means that there is low risk of suicide. He really needs a thorough evaluation and therapy.

anger and grief can be the underlying causes of depression and quitting trying to find and have a place.

He's lucky he has intelligent and caring parents and adults such a Cbelt that recognizes when someone is sliding against the guardrails of life and acts.
