Incredible Farce: China, Russia, Cuba, Pakistan elected to UN Human Rights Council

Aw shucks, freedom loving Saudi Arabia just missed it by a hair. The UN Human Rights Council is an embarrassment to the planet and a total farce.

The United Nations General Assembly elected China to the Human Rights Council, despite its treatment of Uighur Muslims, some one million of whom have been held in detention camps.

China had the support of 139 out of the 191 nations who cast their vote. China was one of 16 nations that vied for 15 three-year seats on the 47-member council, which holds annual elections for its rotating membership.

Cuba, Russia and Pakistan were also elected, but Saudi Arabia failed to secure a seat, receiving only 90 of the minimum 97 required votes.

I don't think anybody takes this body seriously, but it Is an irritation that it exists. I think somebody once suggested a separate organization limited to modern democracies.

Don’t you remember when Idi Amin was running Uganda, and eating his citizens ? Yesh... they were selected to the council as well.
