Hugs and Kisses to APPLE!
#1
I am in the process of shutting down my MS DOS computer life....and both rooms are getting set up with my Apple computers. In one room I have an HP OFFICEJET 6500A printer. Have the install disk but that is kaput now with Apple. SO........I went to HP website to install the software and drivers. Boo Hiss no such animal on HP website...Sorry they say.....not available. So I plugged in the USB cable and thought all was lost on that printer......

What do you know. Apple started up, the printer started humming and Apple installed the software needed!!!!!Running 10.13.6 on a MacBook Air. Am I happy. Printer works! Glory be.....thanks a bunch HP. Thanks for nuttin' HP.

Sam,

We're talking a machine from circa 2010 or so. At the time of release, these machines downloaded their driver when you added it via Printer and Scanner pane in System Preferences.

Found this at HP's web site for your printer:

Not sure if it is what you needed for printing/scanning. IF you need to scan, you should be able to use Image Capture for scanning.

That and the printer may support Airprint. Fewer options than HP's printer driver but definitely makes a printer whose driver you lacked usable. There might be a CUPS driver for it, too.

No,I have worked on MSFT and Apple since ‘90s. I decided yesterday there really was no reason for Pagemaker or Windows 7 in my current or foreseeable life. Moved out what I referred to as MS DOS from my life.
