Video of young woman performing an elegant, circus juggling routine
#1
Folks,

In a thread some posts down, That girl and her bike, I mentioned the difference between bicycle performers and competitors.

This video of a young woman's (Lena Smaha) juggling routine (about 1'05") is a good example of how a circus performer incorporates dance moves and poses into an act, instead of striving to make straight lines. It's also a beautiful routine.

AFAIK, the idea of "juggling" suspended objects was first developed by Jorg Müller at the National Circus School in France. It's nice to see other artistes expanding on Jorg's idea.

Wha? I don't understand the physics of how this works. Huh

It IS cool though. (tu)

The balls are suspended on string and thrown in different directions. Getting them to do what you want them to, in the correct sync, is the trick.

It's very cool, but it's not really juggling, per se. Manipulating tethered objects violates one of the key tenets of juggling, which is that the juggler(s) alone (well, with gravity) control(s) the movement of the objects in motion.

Edited to change juggler to juggler(s) and control to control(s).

I don’t think I’ve seen this type of “juggling” before.

Gatekeeping! 5 yard penalty. Loss of down.
