Well, that would be Trade Dress or Design Patent rather than copyright, so not really any international treaties that would come to bear. Shameless—but not illegal.

VW stopped producing that model/design in 2019.

This car might be categorized as a “replicar” of sorts.

Cars mostly have four wheels, a front and a rear, fenders, windshield; your basics. Most cars for a similar model year look the same to me. But, yes, occasionally you get one that looks iconic like the Bug.

With 3d scanning tech these days, it wouldn't be difficult to reproduce without the molds.
