Garage sale score
#1
Neighborhood across the street from our new neighborhood had a community-wide garage sale yesterday. Three different houses were basically giving stuff away for free. Wife scored an exercise bike and climbing machine for free from one. But I had great luck at another house. I scored a Kindle Paperwhite AND a Facebook Portal for $5 for both! Both came with their power adapters, and both are in excellent condition. Sellers were an older couple, seemingly well off. They had all kinds of electronics in a box, so I picked out the two items and asked how much. The woman said, "how about $5 for both?" SOLD!

I don't do facebook, but the wife does. When I turned it on originally, it still had the woman's contacts in it. Based on the settings, I'm guessing her kids or grandkids got it for her (device name was "Nana's Portal"). Did a factory reset on it and now it's setup with wife's contacts. I like that it displays time/date/weather, with a slideshow when it's idle. Haven't tried out the Kindle yet, but it's still got battery life from whenever she last charged it.

I basically keep FB for music related posts and the free stuff people give away. I could get a free grill just about every day. Got two free bikes recently.

Where can I get some neighbors like that?

In my neighborhood, we all need every dollar we can squeeze out of a yard sale. OP-level bargains are quite rare. But man, if you need glassware from the 1960s, we got you covered.

I love glassware from the 60s! Pick up some of those gold leaf cocktail glasses with stars.
