Fixed my Logitech Performance MX!
#1
I ordered the replacement micro switches and followed this very helpful video. Only thing I managed to mess up was somehow not getting the switches close enough to the circuit board which resulted in not enough clearance for the mouse casing. I just added a few tiny strips of electrical tape to the edges of the case before screwing back together which did the trick.

Now, are there any open source mouse drivers that will allow me to use all the buttons on this thing? At the moment, in Monterey, the left/right, scroll, and fwd/back buttons work just fine but there is no further configuration available. Looks like Logitech stopped supporting this model with MacOS 11.

Huh. I've been wondering why my same mouse is becoming somewhat unresponsive. I chalked it up to a dirty mousepad but maybe it's the switch(es)?

this was the go to app for people looking for mouse drivers for years - not sure if it's still well regarded, but it was last I heard: https://www.usboverdrive.com/

As I recall, they were very responsive to tech requests and I seem to recall that somewhere was a list of supported devices.

How would you characterize the issue?

For me it presented as the mouse sort of "letting go" items as I attempted to drag them around, and also not clicking when I wanted it to.

If it's anything involving the left or right click then yes this would likely solve the problem for you. It's not an expensive fix but neither is it particularly easy. If you have the soldering tools and some experience then it's probably worth a shot. I had entirely stopped using the mouse as a result of this issue before, so if I totally botched it trying to fix it I wasn't really going to be upset.

Thanks. I just downloaded it and I'll have to give it a full test, but so for it seems to be doing the trick!

My mouse fails to detect the location, so I lose the cursor at times.

I assume you have looked underneath and cleared out any dust or hairs from the bottom of the mouse? I'm not sure how the Darkwave sensor thing works, but I've had a similar cursor issue with a more traditional optical mouse where a cat hair was obstructing the light.
