House" Star Laurie In Sudden Return to U.K

Dr. House is making an unscheduled house call to his native England.

The production schedule on Fox's hit medical drama "House" had to be reshuffled Thursday after star Hugh Laurie told producers that he had to go back home, and promptly took an afternoon flight to London.

"Hugh had family obligations in England to attend to, but production is continuing in his absence," said a spokeswoman for Universal Media Studios, which produces the show.

Since the launch of "House" in 2004, Laurie has been separated from his wife and kids, who all still live in England.

A representative for the actor stressed that the trip had been cleared with the producers, and that Laurie is expected to be back at work Monday.

It is understood that the sudden departure is not related to salary negotiations. Last year, Laurie joined the ranks of the highest-paid actors on TV with a new deal that paid him more than $300,000 an episode. (A TV season consists of about two-dozen episodes.)

He has done some very funny work, from what I remember seeing on the BBC and on PBS, when they imported some shows.

I never even knew who he was before House and recently heard him talk in his native voice. It was freaky. If the report had not mentioned he was English I would have thought he was faking it.

Side note: Funny he gets paid all that $ to work with Lisa Edelstein (Cuddy). I'd pay to work with her. She's hot in that MILF kinda way.

I agree that he was a terrific Bertie Wooster. He is also very funny in the Blackadder series.

When I first saw the previews for the House series, I thought ,"That actor looks just like Hugh Laurie" but never imagined that it actually was Hugh Laurie. Started watching the series as soon as I realized they'd actually had the unbelievable good sense to hire him.

He was first considered for the part of Wilson rather than House.

I first recall seeing her as a transexual on Ally McBeal... (wanna-be "innie", but still had the "outie")
Kinda puts a damper on thinking of her as "hot".
Nothing wrong with transexuals, but that plotline had a guy "ambushed" by that particular fact.. and that's not cool.

Nice to know that she really IS an "innie" though
