Somewhere around my office I think I have a shopping bag full of those. Those used to be the best deal around, a floppy disk, free with free shipping, and you didn't even have to spend time placing an order for them, they would just show up, and I would always grab a handful at Macworld. Whenever I needed a blank floppy I would just reach into the bag and erase it. Too bad that they switched to CDs. Hundreds of years from now when archeologists go digging through our landfills, they'll be finding lots of those.

I don't think a bag of AOL floppies could even get me an order of fries at McDonalds.

Now that I think of it, there might be some old Apple eWorld floppies in that bag too, those are a bit more rare than AOL floppies.

I subscribed to both eWorld and AOL back in the day. My first ISP was Delphi: anyone remember that? They were the geniuses who felt no need to change their approach because Mosaic and other GUI interfaces to the Interweb would never take off.
