Entourage help
#1
Not an entourage user here - but my husband just called tech support (me) asking what to do - entourage gave him a message saying he needed to rebuild his database - which he did - said failed, go to advanced rebuild - he did - failed again.

I checked online and gave him the suggestion to discard some preferences, which didn't help

We then dragged his database to the desktop - and evidently the database also contains all of his login info to the server which he doesn't remember - any chance that is stored elsewhere?

perhaps in Keychain Access?

You might also try your ISP, they should have that info on file for you if you give them the proper identifying info that you are who you say you are. Otherwise, I have found this site helpful for Entourage: http://www.entourage.mvps.org/

Sometimes the Entourage database is too corrupt to rebuild.

If you use POP mail you are going to lose it all. If your Entourage account uses IMAP or syncs to an Exchange mail server then you can get it all back once you recreate the account.

He will need all of his setup info from the ISP to recreate his account. User name, password, incoming and outgoing email servers, etc.

Entourage is the spawn of Satan thanks to the unreliable database.

is it Entourage v.X or Entourage 2004?

v.X has a smaller database size limit; 2004 doubled it, IIRC.

it's a good idea to compress your database on a regular basis.
what i do is zip it right after that, so i have a viable backup handy in case of corruption.

your husbands backs up his data regularly, right? 8-)
