Re-installing system prior to selling
#1
I've decided that I am very happy with my new 2.8GHz iMac so my Dual 1.8 G5 desktop is being prepared for sale. I've done a secure erase of the HD and am installing Tiger from the discs but I have a question for when that has finished. I know it will reboot and ask me about setting it up but as it's not going to be for me how do I stop this and will the next owner then get the startup themselves?

Just did this for a coworker last week..

Shows how to delete all users, and re-run the setup assistant.
That way, you can set up a temporary user, install any system updates you want (etc), then delete that user and have it start up to the setup assistant for the new owner.

Or if your lazy, just shut down upon first re-start after wipe/clean install.

After it goes through the little song and dance do a Command-Q. That will force quit out of the registration app, but will reappear at next boot.

Thanks for the suggestions but I will go with Paul F.'s first as I will be able to do all the updates and then get it into an 'as new' state.
