Just pulled trigger... color laser...
#1
... seems like a decent deal: http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/S...uctDisplay?&storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10051&partNumber=678787&cm_mmc=GoogleBase-_-Shopping-_-Technology_%253E_Laser_Printers_-_-678787-6180DN&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=678787

$400, free shipping... used a $40 off $300 coupon, brought it down to a bit under $400 including tax. There may be an extra $200 off on this printer from a rebate via Xerox, though I'm not counting on it: http://www.office.xerox.com/perl-bin/pro...ode=rebate

That rebate is described as an "instant rebate" on the Xerox site, so there is no way to apply for it, it's built into the purchase price.

GGD, yes, except... it also states that it applies to the printers being sold through other retailers... can't hurt to apply for it...

As far as I can tell, there is no way to apply for that rebate, if you go to the URL that they specify to claim the rebate, you need to enter the offer code, and the chart with with offer codes has "N/A" listed for that 6180 with it's instant rebate.

But if you find a way, go for it.

How much ink do those come with? Would it be worth buying two just for the suppiles?

They come with the 2000 page "starter" carts; true that it may be worth it to buy one just for the carts...

Re the offer code, apparently you leave it blank and let the Xerox "wizard" figure it out for you! Big Grin

Good move, PeterB. Once you switch to a color laser, you'll want to toss all USB printers out the door. Speed, super cheap page cost. I love my Xerox 6260N which I've had for 5 years. Rock solid.

Max out the RAM on it, asap. I have the same 6180N (non-duplexing mdl), and my only complaint is often the wait time between sending the print job to it, and the start of printing -with photo images or pdfs. (Once processed, it prints out fast.)

What Psurfer said. The standard RAM in most color lasers will drive you nuts, because it takes so long for each job to spool before you see the printer actually pushing out copies. I immediately got a 246Meg chip for mine and now it takes about 6 seconds before I hear the printer start spitting out paper.

Psurfer et al., which RAM type does it take? I may actually already have some that will work... I didn't see it mentioned on their spec page.
