Can't save Quark 5 file: "Unexpected end-of-file encountered. [-39]" - Is It Hosed?

My boot drive (OS/Apps) failed in my G4 867 OS9.2.2 at work. I installed another and copied over a backup of the original drive with OS and Apps.

Just got this "Unexpected end-of-file encountered. [-39]" when trying to save a revision of a Quark 5 file I'm working on (file is on a separate work drive).

Anybody know of a way to save and not loose the work I've now done?

Thanks

make a new document and view them both as Thumbnails.

Drag the damgaed file's pages into the new document.

I would put the file onto the same drive as the Quark application, just to see if that doesn't stop these problems.

There's a few ideas here:

Big Daddy Cool:

Tried what you suggested but kept getting a message that I couldn't drag a page into a smaller page. weird, as I could drag the new blank page into the corrupt .qxd file in Thumbnail view (the new .qxd was the exact same size).

I was able to copy the pages as jdc suggested.

$tevie, I will try what you suggest tomorrow (I'm pooped and going home now.)

Thanks, all, for your help with this.

Markzware used to make a utility for Quark that did EXACTLY this -- repaired "Unexpected EOF" errors.

Well, more weirdness. The new file I created yesterday by pasting from the corrupt file won't open this AM. I did export the job as .EPS so I have that.

Tried what $tevie suggested but that didn't solve it.

chas_m, thanks for the tip about Markzware.
