Promising new series?
Posted by: Black
Date: September 26, 2010 05:55PM
Lost . . . gone. 24 . . . gone.
Fringe . . . not keeping my interest after 3-4 episodes.

Any of the new stuff jump out at anyone this year?

My son told me "The Event" was the new Lost, so I watched the pilot and thought it was pretty good. I'll watch again and see if it holds interest.
I'm still a Mad Men fan though, love that show and this season's past few shows have been excellent.

Haven't given tried watching a new series for the first time in a long time. I'll stick with Survivor, Big Bang,
CSI Vegas, and Chuck. Two and Half Men hit a high years ago, I don't see how it's still on, wife still likes it.

Forgot my favorite "Mad Men"!

Castle, and Chuck are the two fall shows we've been waiting for to return. Summer / whatever odd time slots SyFy chooses to use would be Eureka.

And Memphis Beat on TNN was quite good, we really enjoyed it.

When does Top Gear return? ;)

Good Luck!

Would have thought you'd be in based on the title alone.

Yeah, wife and I haven't really like any of the new shows for the most part. We'll probably watch another episode or two before pulling the plug. As for Lonestar, the networks now want you to get cozy with a bigamist... Nice...

Just watched "The Whole Truth" and really enjoyed it. Will DVR the series. Also, "The Glades" on A&E. Detective moves from Chicago to Florida.

For me, Fringe's first season was cr@p. It only just got a little interesting at the end of last season.

Operative word: "little." I probably wouldn't miss it if it disappeared.

'Still watching House regularly even though it's stuck in the same morass of soap-opera theatrics it fell into years ago. I look for the rare episodes where they actually do medical-stuff.

I watch Castle even though it's the same I-solved-it-in-the-first-5-minutes story as every other crime show. Nathan Fillion makes it moderately enjoyable.

Hell's Kitchen is nice to keep on in the background while I get work done.

Good Guys is so bad that it's almost good. Almost.

...Very "almost."

No.

The Event, Lone Star, Chase, Hawaii 5-0, same old boring crud.

$..! My Dad Says is utterly lacking in soul.

I may give Chase a second chance just because I think the acting and direction were surprisingly good, even though the whole show is little more than a bundle of poorly-linked clich├ęs.

Not new, but anybody following "Sons of Anarchy"? Seems like FX has copied AMC in rotating 3 hit shows through the year.

I have The Event on the DVR but have not checked it out yet. A co-worker told me
that it "time jumps" like LOST used to, and that it seems like it does this for no reason
sometimes.

New favorites:
Boardwalk Empire (HBO), Terriers

Continuing stuff:
Fringe, Sons of Anarchy, Criminal Minds, Bored To Death (HBO), American Pickers

They all take a back seat when Breaking Bad comes back. smiling smiley

'Don't get FX, but I watched on Hulu.

'Looking forward to seeing if it can do as well this year.

I enjoyed Sons, but again, seemed like a really long break like Human Target. Not back on hulu until Oct 7th.

Its Always Sunny in Pilly and the The league are back, but not on hulu until the 16th.

I seem to be doing all my TV watching via hulu...

Speaking of new cable shows that you can catch on Hulu, "The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret" looked promising, but turns out to suck.

I heard good things about the original version, but apparently they cut out everything good and left the @#$%& for the version going to air.

We enjoyed the movie Outsourced and have hopes that the series of the same name will be equally funny. We saw the pilot this past week and it so far is not as funny as the movie. We lived and worked among Indians for four years in Oman so have a special interest in their customs, their mannerisms, and their ways. However, I do not expect that many will find a sitcom about operating a call center in India will appeal to enough people to keep it on the air.

Yes, Modern Family is a must see, for us. I left that out due to the 'new series' in title.

Since I now have to compete with India for work, I have no interest whatsoever in watching a show about it.

"Fringe" is excellent stuff - one of the few shows I'll make a point to watch.
