poll: ram upgrades for new iMac 17"

ok seeing it only has one slot will the 1gig stick be enough or is the 2 gig stick worth the extra $180. the machine is being used for email, web, im's, itunes and front row what do you guys think.

A gig should do you fine. I am running 768 MB RAM on my iBook to do pretty much the same sort of thing, plus Photoshop and word processing, on Tiger. I can't imagine Front Row would require that much more.

I actually took the time to restart in Panther with just 256mb about two weeks ago.

I ran Photoshop 7 in it and the other usual stuff. The virtual memory performance on an ATA-33 bus with a 5400/2MB cache drive was only a few seconds behind for a relatively small PS project of about 30mb.

I was really quite impressed.

And this was with a G4/450.

yeah i am thinking i can get by with 1.5gigs total so i will order a one gig stick from owc

went with a 1 gig stick from owc , took 5 minutes tops reboot and works fine.
thanks owc for saving me $30 and having cheap 2 day shipping smiling smiley
