We are off to the iHop for dinner
Posted by: rgG
Date: December 24, 2005 04:55PM
We called earlier and the Roswell, GA iHop is open 24 hours today. So, we are off for a "breakfast for dinner tonight". I have to cook tomorrow, so I'm not doing it tonight, too. See y'all when we get back.

Is iHOP a non-christian run/owned business? Not that there is anything wrong with it smiling smiley
Every now and then, I have an urge to have pancakes, we would go there. I wish they would have blueberry pancakes. No, not blueberries on top of plain pancakes; the ones with the blueberry flavor batter.

Have a wonderful time, rgG. Tell us about the service and the crowd when you return.

Sorry about the dup. I don't know why every time I edit the post. It appears twice with the old version and the new one.

Well, we did actually have a coupon. smiling smiley And the service was excellent, as usual. There was a really big crowd when we got there, but we didn't have to wait. The Roswell iHop is very good. We have been going there for about 15 years and they really have their act together. Service is almost always good and the food is excellent. I had a HUGE spinach salad with bacaon and chicken, half of which I brought home. Since I know you are dying to know, the hubby had pork chops and eggs and my mom had some big old turkey sandwich with onion rings and the 14 yo daughter had an apple filled crepe with hash browns and a piece of bacon-she eats strange things, what can I say.

As for why they were open all night tonight and till 2pm tomorrow, I have no idea. It is just that particular location, though. The one that is closer to us, in Alpharetta, closed at 4pm today and I don't think they are open tomorrow. So, I think it must depend on the owner of the particular store.

Now WHiiP, as for iHop for dinner being a southern thing, well maybe. I started going to an open all night iHop for cheese blintzes when I was in college. There is just nothing better at 2am than cheese blintzes with strawberry jam-southern or not, that's just good.

Now that I have bored you all senseless with my restaurant review let me just say, Happy Holidays to all and to all a good night, well in a few hours anyway!

Don't feel bad. Lunch tomorrow may very well be Indian buffet, but dinner is definitely going to be at home, with a rib roast and all the trimmings.

Aside from working in the stead of Christians, or operating their businesses anyway, lots of folks who don't celebrate Christmas do fun things on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in the absence of a crush of folks otherwise occupied. Here in the Philly area there always used to be big singles dances for non-Christians.

I'd take Cracker Barrel over iHOP.

I love Cracker Barrel, too, but the nearest one is about an hour away. The iHop won out because it is just as good and it is only 10-15 minutes from the house.

We always stop at the Cracker Barrel when we drive down to Florida. There seems to be one about every other exit on the interstate.

Cracker Barrel is SO GOOD. I have never had a meal I didn't like there. I just wish they'd lighten the place up a bit. My tired old eyes need more light. Love the fireplace.

I hope it wasn't the one on Alpharetta Hwy and near Mansell. We had a disturbing experience there last year and vowed never to go back. I'm sure the pancakes were fine, just be wary about the syrup. But, that's a story for a different day.
