I have found that the slot-loading Superdrive in my 1.5GHz G4 PowerBook (MacOS 10.4.6) doesn't work right with VLC. It cannot play disks from different regions without resetting. Does it have some new Region selection encoding? The drive is a Matshita DVD-R UJ-835E (SuperDrive).

Using this PowerBook I can watch DVDs from Europe and the US on an external drive using VLC. With the PowerBook's internal drive, VLC will only play the Region the drive is set to. I changed the drive's Region setting once to confirm that.

Is there a fix for this or an alternate program?
