eBay Shipping Prices

Where will they end. Cell phone shipping $56.00 for a $75 phone. I wonder if I should do the same when I'm listing stuff on eBay. What's wrong with just the actual cost and sell the product for what it brings. I've always done that pretty much.

They're just trying to keep from paying ebay fees. Turn 'em in to ebay for violations of the TOS. Ebay will eventually catch 'em and toss em.

And if it don't work, they will refund the purchase price but not the shipping.

what was said above. . .they try to avoid Ebay fees

I usually avoid anyone that over charges

BUT I see people paying 1 cent for items with $200 shipping fees. ..why?

I'll never understand.

I won't pay $200 for shipping, but I have gotten a couple of good deals because the seller was charging $14.95 or such and so nobody would bid. 99 cents plus $15 shipping for something worth 30 or 40 dollars is okay by me if I want the item. But I'm not talking about computers or electronics, I buy things like books or small collectibles.

The people who have $100 shipping on a $1 item are just trying to cheat ebay out of fees.

The people who have $15 shipping on a $60 or $70 item are trying to make up the ebay fees and paypal fees in the shipping charges.

Contrary to what the people here think and do, most ebayers will buy the cheaper priced item with the more expensive shipping when the total price is equal.

I bought a 64mb Memory Stick the other day for a $1 and shipping was
$6 but the total cost was fine with me. If the total price is within
reason I don't care. If you don't like the shipping don't bid, it
couldn't get any easier than that and if everyone else does the same
they'll just fade away. It's another case where the sellers profit
margin is so small they do whatever they can to make up for it.
Another flunky trying to get rich on eBay.

Why get so worked up over this? If you are buying then it's logical in any case to factor in the shipping charge whatever it is as presumably you will also be comparing with the price possible down the road in a shop. Yes, they are trying to cut down on their fees but it's the overall price that should matter to you. If eBay want to do something about it then let them, they are big enough and don't need any worries from us to survive.

The 'you' above is not directed to anyone in particular but generally to those who show concern for this high shipping practice.

I'm with voodoopenguin. Let the market work its thing. Supply and demand. Who cares which portion is theoretically for the item, which part is for shipping, for handling, for taxes, for gas to the PO.

I think this was a very good point. That's where buyers should get worked up about it. A seller will only refund the $1 on a $1 item with $220 shipping fees. You won't get your money back. Period.
