The Taoist Zhuangzi said, "Good order results spontaneously when things are let alone".
The sociologist, and historian, Adam Ferguson described the phenomenon of spontaneous order in society as the "result of human action, but not the execution of any human design".

Very interesting. I watched the 'Hitchhiker's Guide' movie yesterday and was just thinking about where my towel is...

Boy! I sure wish I had a "Don't Panic!" towel.

What kind of towel should I carry with me today. A plain old towel probably wouldn't convey the sentiment of the occasion.

So, what towel are you going to take with you, today?

Suggestions for a "towel" challenged hitchhiker?

I'd rather have a Pan-galactic Gargle Blaster.

"hoopy" is probably the word you're thinking of.

[hhgproject.org]

Sass
know, be aware of, meet, have sex with

Hoopy
really together guy

Frood
really amazingly together guy

Hence a phrase which has passed into hitch hiking slang, as in "Hey, you sass that hoopy Ford Prefect? There's a frood who really knows where his towel is."

As would I.

In a pinch, one could simply have one's brains smashed out with a large (gold) brick wrapped in a slice of lemon.

Well, I took my towel with me everywhere today, but I didn't see one other towel.

I did tell a man in a shop we went into about why I had my towel and he got really excited.

He said that HHGTTG changed his life when he first heard it. Said he'd remember "Towel Day" from now on. grinning smiley

Not bad, I say!

GeneL

Thanks again for the heads up.
