What do you think of this employment ad?

I'm not qualified for this job and am not considering applying for this job. So it's not like I am wondering what I would be getting into, or anything like that.

I just sort of stumbled on it due to overlapping key words, and found it odd. It reads as if they took their internal HR Job Description and posted it verbatim as their employment ad.

Just wondering if other folks find this odd and long-winded or if it's just because I am running a fever today. ;)

Sounds like at least 3 positions in there. If that is Homewood, IL, that's enough work for the entire surrounding metro area.

Never, ever, ever let academics write job descriptions. They are often incapable of writing simple 'requirements' as opposed to 'lectures'. And I say this as the son of a University Professor.

Adobe Pagemaker, Aldus Freehand, Kai's Power Tools?

They are copy and pasting from a description that is from 1995.

In all honesty, I loved the KPT gradient tool.

Probably an old job description that has never been updated due to an act of their internal 'Congress' to make that happen, so they have to post what is on file.

The differences in line spacing suggest it has been copy/pasted from (an)other document(s); most likely a grant proposal based on the descriptions.

JH's job descriptions are a running joke.

Yes, that's what it put me in mind of I just couldn't think of it!

I didn't even notice the ancient software. However, being Hopkins they might actually still be using it. :-/
