Saw the new X-Men movie *SPOILERS GALORE*

All in all, I enjoyed the movie and think it holds up quite nicely with I and II, despite Singer's absence.

A few observations:

While Magneto moving the Golden Gate Bridge was plenty dramatic, couldn't Jean have done it and probably painted her toenails at the same time?

Holy Ed Wood, Jr.!! In the same scene, we jump from daytime to nighttime rather abruptly. You'd think California would have more gradual sunsets.

So Professor X may make it to the #4 (gotta sit through those end credits, folks) but that doesn't necessarily mean Patrick Stewart will be back. That could be interesting.

Maybe next time they could do a prequel and show how the rift between Prof X and Magneto developed. Show George Lucas how to do it right.

No one actually SAW Cyclops die so it's possible he could return too, but his character has been a big snooze since the original comic book version so it's no big loss if he doesn't.

David Justice is still the biggest moron in the world for letting Halle Berry get away. Nothing to do with the movie but it had to be said.

That's all for now.

I checked it out also. Liked the plot, very entertaining. I wonder if Magneto will get his powers back?

Looking forward to X-Men 4....

I actually thought it was better than 2. Why kill off Jean, why didn't they inject her
with the "Cure"? Had a hard time with Kelsey playing "Beast", everytime I heard his
voice I thought about "Frasier".

Well, there's no guarentee she's dead either. She's not called Phoenix for nothing.

Also, I thought the CGI on Prof X and Magneto to make them look twenty years younger at the beginning was pretty incredible, expecially on Ian McKellen. A digital face lift!

I noticed that too. I started to comment to my wife about it during the movie but
she was getting into the movie. They did a very good job on that. Patrick Stewart is aging
pretty well so it probably wasn't that hard to fix him up.

So what was the "after the end credits" scene?

(BTW, Patrick Stewart has said he's ready for X4...)

Remember the body-without-a-mind shown earlier in the movie? Xavier's mind inhabits the body in the coda so his character can come back for the next movie. But I don't see how it can be Patrick Stewart playing the part.

I thought it was excellent. Much better than it had any business being, especially given all the chaos during production.

Sure, I'd like to have seen the Phoenix story done the way Claremont wrote it and Byrne drew it (25 years ago!), but getting all the cosmic backstory into a two-hour movie for a wide audience is really asking too much. To put it another way, I wouldn't have done it the way they did it, but the way they did it is still a damn good movie.

David Justice is smarter than you know.

I saw the movie in San Francisco and wondered:
a.) if that portion of the GGB could really span from the Marina to Alcatraz and
b.) how the hell I was going to get to Marin County after the show

Doesn't matter.
I enjoyed the movie.

I am not Ryan Seacrest, and I do not approve this message.

I really enjoyed it to.
A few points-

- I really enjoyed seeing the Jauggernaught, as a character. Fireboy or whatever his name is was too annoying and decitful for us to expect him to live, kind of a giveaway in that regard.

- Cyclops / Scott may still be alive, Jean may have put him somewhere or who knows? Anything is possible now.

- Instead of Wolverine killing Jean, they might have been able to use that boy to counteract her powers, assuming that she isn't so powerful as to preclude this possibility.

- No doubt that Wolverine 'killed' her with his claws, but there was no doubt that she was dead before in the last movie either. It she is such a great 'level 5' mutant or whatever, why can't she just make herself totally invincible?

- Lousy cop-out at the end with Magneto and the chess board. Pretty much makes the whole point of the movie meaningless. I mean as of now we have mutants that can come back from the dead and regenerate their own mutant DNA after being permanently 'cured' of it. There are no rules here.

That's called continued profits for Hollywood. They almost over done the CG in this movie like so many other sequels but once again that's Hollywood.
