Wouldn't it be easier to go to a deserted part of the house and let a few rip?
Crude? Yes. Uncouth? Yes. But probably a whole lot better for you than using pharmaceuticals to suppress a natural body function.

I thought it went on the beans. Never read the label.

When one lives alone one doesn't have to worry about the "bean effect." One of the few benefits.

Actually, Beano's not a pharmaceutical or drug. It's just an enzyme they've found beneficial for breaking down beans. I've used digestive enzymes for 20 years, and they can help a lot, especially with legumes.

Although you didn't mention if it was actually beans that you'd eaten to produce so much gaaaasss, here are the tips listed in my last book, The 28-Day Cleansing Program to help keep spare air to a minimum:

Watch your food combining. Don't add sweeteners or fruit to beans or bean dishes (for that matter, most any meal)

Certain spices counteract the production of intestinal gas. Fortunately, they all taste great in bean & grain dishes. Try fenugreek seeds, marjoram, ginger root, cumin, caraway seeds, turmeric, parsley and black pepper.

Cook beans thoroughly before adding acidic foods, like tomatoes, lemon, and vinegar. Don't add salt until the last few minutes.

Eat small portions of beans to build up your body's ability to process them. Your body will develop the enzymes to break down beans.

While combining beans with grains is popular in many countries, I find that the combination makes the meal harder to digest. Try separating beans from grains if you're having problems with digestion.

Anything that increases the body's enzymes or friendly bacteria will increase your ability to digest beans and any other meal. Pay attention to rebuilding your internal friendly flora, as outlined in the second section.

Since we're on the subject, here's one of my favorite bean recipes from the book:

Curried Chickpeas
4 cups cooked chickpeas• 2 tablespoon olive oil•
1 large onion chopped fine• 1 tablespoon fresh ginger•
2 cloves garlic, minced• 1 1/2 teaspoon curry powder •
2 teaspoon ground cumin• 4 cups kale, (or fresh spinach)•
1 teaspoon salt• 1 1/2 cups water•

Heat oil in large skillet. Add onions and garlic. Cook until onions are golden,
about 10 minutes. Add cumin and curry powder; stir constantly for 1 minute.
Add the greens, water and salt. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until greens
are cooked, approximately 7 minutes. Stir in chickpeas to heat through.

I believe you're supposed to sprinkle some on the food before you eat it...

The last time at the supermarket, noticed this:

and wondered if they knew the relationship to the other Beanos...

Two types of Beano. Liquid drops you sprinkle on your food, and white tablets you chew as you first eat the offending food.

Beano works fairly well for me when I OD on onions, broccoli or beans. Personally, I up the dosage by about 50%.

Next time, add about 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to the beans as they cook.
