How soon can I go outside and make noise?
Posted by: AlphaDog
Date: May 29, 2006 10:37AM
It's 8:30. I've been up since 5. This is the first day in a week it hasn't rained, and the lawn needs to be mowed, and the driveway needs to be cleaned. And then there's the powerwashing project that got interrupted by the bad weather, and I need to work on that some more.

It's soooo quiet around here. There aren't even any cars driving past on the main road, let alone on my street. No dogs are barking. All I can hear are birds.

Are you ever the first one to go outside and disturb the tranquility?

9am is when I start my auditory disruptions. Everyone should be up by then. Somebody's got to do it, so why not you?

So shall I start them off easy with the electric lawn mower or do this in a big way and crank up the powerwasher?

Thanks for responding; at least now I have somebody to talk to! smiling smiley

Nine seems reasonable, but wait an extra hour if you can, since some people may be exercising their rare chances to sleep in because of the holiday.

They had Saturday and Sunday to sleep in. When it was raining. Besides, most of these people are retired anyway and can sleep in whenever they want to.

In my neighborhood 7AM seems to be fair game...

Electric mower and powerwasher are not enough noise, get out there with the leaf sweeper and show em who's boss.

Local laws here say 6 am, but my neighbors usually wait til 8am.

Being a holiday, give em until 9 and "let the day begin."

The real question is how soon can you start drinking?

Sounds like you need to start off with a Bloody Mary and let the day begin.

you shouldn't mow your lawn when it is wet. the weight from the mower will leave tracks in the lawn and you'll end up with bare spots and really screw things up. Believe me, I learned the hard way.

Most cities that have airport restrictions limit the first flight until 7 AM.

Cities that have noise ordinances typically limit noise until after 7 or 8 AM (reasonable time during the week)... Personally, I would always wait until at least 8 AM, usually 9 AM by the time I really got everything set up and actually started.

I think when you have things you need to do, go out and do them. Generally, if someone objects to it, you will hear about it.

I am not talking about the middle of the night--if it's daylight, then yard work should be OK. There are plenty of people who mow early in the morning during the summer because it's too hot by 10 a.m.

I like to sleep until about ten/ten-thirty in the morning on weekends myself, but I was afraid to say so here. Thanks, C(-)ris for giving me the courage to come out. :-D

why not go out now, it's past 8:30, PM so you have another 3-4 hours till people go to bed smiling smiley

EDIT: oh yeah, if they object when you mow the lawn at 11 PM, it's because you disturb their SEX. that must be fun smiling smiley

if you really have stuff to do, get started around 7 am.

Plenty of idiots with boom-box woofer cars and loud harley bikes don't seem to care if they keep me awake past 1 am.

that's the way it works now - just do what you want - everybody else seems to.

I never saw my parents in bed (sleeping). They thought getting up at 6 was sleeping in.
