new technology/old technology

Even though I am constantly baffled by it, I do love playing with new technology. However I can still be very impressed by a simple gadget that just works. Here we have two bits of shaped metal that according to my family has to be at least 50 years old and I use it regularly at least twice a week. Simple job and it works perfectly every time.

A good cherry/olive pitter is to be treasured.

It's true, it looks like some sort of torture instrument but when you know what it is it seems obvious. I purposely didn't say to see what people thought!

It's a wine bottle opener!

Now, can I have my rewards: Video iPod and 13.1 inch black MacBook Pro?!!

Wrong and definitely no.

Thrift Store Scott knew what it was. I don't think I've used it for cherries but it's used on olives all the time.

Darn,

A "Pitter"?

I thought maybe your family had ties with the Mob and it was a 50 year old thumb screw for people who pay debts late, handed down from Father to Son in "Da Family Business".
