I've only dropped the thing two times in the past year.

Last week, it feel screen down and I notice on white backgrounds like a three or four pixel black spot in the middle of the screen.

If it was to the side, I could ignore it, but it is right in the middle.

It looks like, if you view the phone from the side, that something with color grazed the screen. There is no indentation that you can feel.

It doesn't come off, so obviously what ever it hit scratched the screen.

Besides replacing the screen, is there a way to buff it out?

I thought the 3 gs had easy-to-repair screens. You might be able to DIY

I've got a couple of nicks on mine too. I don't know why I thought it would be a good idea to stand it up on a coke can and watch a movie while I eat dinner. It only fell those three inches but it certainly took two nicks to the front of the screen. If you figure something out please follow up here
